Fixed doubles teams
In doubles mode, list your players in order and each consecutive pair of names becomes a fixed team. The teams then play a full round robin, so every pair meets every other pair once. If you have an odd number of players, the last name is left unpaired and flagged so you can find them a partner.
Making the most of your courts
Pickleball games are short, so a round robin moves quickly. A game to eleven points, win by two, played as the best of three games, keeps courts turning over. Enter the number of courts you have and each round's matches are spread across them. Because a pickleball court is small, you can often mark out two or more on a single tennis court, which lets a whole round play at once.
Ranking a pickleball round robin
There are no sets in pickleball, so rank the table on games won, then points difference (points won minus points lost), and use the head-to-head result to separate teams that are still level. That works well when every team completes its fixtures. If some go unplayed, rank on win percentage or games won per match instead, so nobody gains simply by playing more.
Frequently asked questions
How many games are in a pickleball round robin?
Every team plays every other team once, so the number of matches is N times N minus one, divided by two. Four teams is 6 matches, six teams is 15 and eight teams is 28. Each match is usually the best of three games.
Does this generator rotate partners?
No. It schedules fixed teams, or individual players in singles mode. For a rotating-partner social night you need a different format; fixed teams are the standard choice for a league.
What happens with an odd number of teams?
One team rests each round. The byes are spread evenly, so every team sits out exactly once across the schedule.
